The Annual Lake Friends of the Library Book Sale is here!

The Lake Community Friends of the Library 10th Annual Book Sale is upon us, my most favorite time of year!

Initially, I enjoyed the sale because I’ve always been an avid reader, and now as a Mom I enjoy it even more, because each year is a new adventure as my daughter grows.

The first year my daughter was snuggled in her sling, now she explores the titles and sits at the children’s table and digs in to the books…and into the members’ night pre-sale snack table too!

The wonderful volunteers work tirelessly to set up the media center and organize the book donations (accepted all year at the Lake Community Branch), and all help make suggestions for titles if you are looking to try out a new author or two.

Lake Library Book Sale June 2013The Children’s section is of course my new favorite and is stocked with a wonderful selection of books, puzzles, board games, work books, textbooks, VCR tapes and DVD’s. It’s no surprise that we take the entire two hours to discover new titles, and every year at checkout I usually end up with a new Friends of the Library tote bag to get it all home.

Last year we enjoyed Romeo’s Pizza in the Friends of the Library ABC Garden while we were waiting for the sale to begin, a great way to enjoy the summer sunshine and the garden that the Friends create each year!

The sale has something for everyone with used books of all types on sale at bargain prices, as well as various types of electronic media; audio books, CDs, DVDs and Video Tapes.

“BAG DAY” is ALL DAY on Saturday, June 22.  Get a bag of books for just $3.00.

Members have the great opportunity to attend the members only sale on Wednesday, June 19 from 5:30-7:30.

Yearly individual ($10) or family ($20) memberships are available at the door.  FOL funds programs, equipment and books, for example, to enhance the Library’s programs as well as display tables, dvd racks, special author events, and encourage community awareness by representing the library in the Lake community.

The FOL also help with library programs, open houses, special events, and public service projects such as reading at Altercare, The Hartville Migrant Council library, library garden, and computer tutors, just to name a few.
