January Classes and Workshops

Looking for something to perk up your January? Make a new year’s resolution to learn something new!


January, 13th (Tuesday) 7-9pm
Beer School at Maize Valley Brewery
Class Fee $20

Includes four samples of beer and pairing of small plates.  Styles are Blonde Ale, Amber Ale, IPA and Stout.  Discussion of ingredients and process along with the style guidelines and what attributes different flavors in beer. Reservations are pre-paid only so we know how much to get ready for. You can call 330-877-8344 to hold your spot, seating will be limited. (Next class- February 10th)


January 14th, (Wednesday) 6pm
Hidden in Plain Sight at Lake High School
Free (Note: this exhibit will be open to adults only.)

Hidden in Plain Sight, a traveling exhibit resembling a teenager’s bedroom created by the Bath and Copley Township Police Departments will be on display in the LHS cafeteria.

Sergeant Mike Batchik, Uniontown Police Department, and Patrolman Ed Beverage, Hartville Police Department, will be assisting with the exhibit and program. The exhibit is designed to help parents identify if their child is participating in negative behaviors based on objects identified in the bedroom exhibit.

Following the viewing, a Powerpoint presentation and discussion will review substance abuse, violence, eating disorders, juvenile crime, technology influences, risky games/challenges, and more. This will be the second of three planned events presented as part of the Faces of the Community series.


January 15th (Thursday) 6-8pm
Essential Oils Class at Nanny Goat Naturals
Class Fee $10

This class will be about on-guard and lemon essential oils. It will teach how to use these as a preventative for colds and flu and how to disinfect your house without using harsh chemicals. There will be a healthy snack and drink using essential oils. RSVP by Jan.14


January 20th (Tuesday) 6-8pm
Make It and Take It at Nanny Goat Naturals
Class Fee $10

This class will be about making alcohol free lip balms. You will receive instruction and recipes to take with you and you will make one during class time to take with you. RSVP by January 19, 2015.


January 21st (Wednesday) 8-9am
5 Things You Need to Ask Your Account Before you File Your 2014 Taxes
at the Kaufman Center, Free

This seminar will be lead by MJ Miller & Co. CPAs and is part of Lake Township Chamber of Commerce’s Morning Connections. Open to the entire community, for more information visit the Lake Chamber website.


January 23rd (Friday) 5-7pm
Winter Clothing Maintenance at Best Bib and Tucker
Class Fee $7

Learn Best Bib and Tucker’s tricks for:
– De-Pilling Sweaters
– Fixing Sweater Snags
– Tightening Loose Coat Buttons
– Removing Road Salt Stains

Participants receive fix-it tools, our recipe for removing road salt stains, refreshments, and shopping discounts the day of the class! Feel free to bring an item that needs repaired to work on in class! Must pre-pay to be registered. Register at the checkout counter or call 330-877-3308 for other payment options.


January 30th (Friday) 6-8pm
Ladies’ Night at Nanny Goat Naturals
Class Fee $10

We will be doing facials. You will get a chance to try out our facial cleanser, choose from a variety of sugar scrubs, and use our fresh goat milk moisturizing lotion. Come to the class this evening and enjoy a 10% discount on all our facial products. RSVP by January 29th.


Saturday Mornings 9am-11am (snow must be 4″)
Cross Country Skiing Basics at Quail Hollow State Park
Lessons by Stark Parks- Register Here, $12

X-Country Ski Info:
Visit the park this winter and cross-country ski or snowshoe Quail Hollow’s gently rolling meadows, woods and bridle trails. The rental shop is open when the ground is frozen with a snow depth of 4 inches. Rental shop is located in lower level of the Manor House.

Open Saturdays 10am-4pm and Sundays noon-4pm. Group rentals are available during the week upon request.

Equipment rental prices:
Children six and under $4.00 / hour
Adults $8.00 / hour
Golden Buckeye Card $6.00 / hour
Groups of 10 or more $6.00 / hour
