End of Summer Fun at Quail Hollow State Park

Get out and enjoy the great outdoors at Quail Hollow State Park!

July 20th (Sunday) Nature for All Trail Hike
Join us for a naturalist lead stroll along this paved trail as we explore nature and some of the history of the park. Suitable for strollers, wheelchairs and those who prefer a short easy walk. Meet at the Spruce Grove Picnic Area 2pm.

July 29th (Tuesday) Wildlife for Little Tikes “Wild Neighbors”
Who lives in the trees, under the ground and just outside our homes? We will go looking for animal homes and learn how they live and why they are good neighbors. Then make your own mini-notebook with pictures of the animals you see. For youngsters 6 and under accompanied by an adult. Meet in the Carriage House Nature Center 10am.

August 2nd (Saturday) Herbal Society Horticulture Therapy Session

Join us in the herb garden to focus on plant identification, plus gardening, pruning, and harvesting tips and techniques. Any level of experience welcome. If you love working in the garden but need to sit, we can accommodate you. Tools provided.

9:00 am – 10:00 am Horticultural therapy session at the herb garden garden – Relax while you gain hands-on experience working in the garden with plants.
10:00 am – 11:00 am Cool off with refreshments and sit in and ask questions at a round table discussion with knowledgeable gardeners.

Please join us for both activities or just one. Everyone welcome! Free and open to the public! Water and refreshments available.

August 12th (Tuesday) Wildlife for Little Tikes “Turtles”
Meet Duke and our other resident turtles and learn about these fascinating animals through stories and hands on activities. For youngsters 6 and under accompanies by an adult. Meet in the Carriage House Nature Center 10am.

August 17th (Sunday) Tall Grass Prairie, and Sedge Marsh Hike
You will have to look up to see many of the flowers along this trail as we walk among plants that reach 8 to 10 feet high. We will explore different eco-systems as we go from prairie to woodland to marsh land. Meet at the Carriage House Nature Center 2pm.

August 23rd (Saturday) Tree ID
Join a naturalist lead hike and learn how to identify various species of our most common trees as well as their importance to humans and wildlife. Meet at the Spruce Grove Picnic Area 2pm.

Night Hike
August 29th (Friday) Night Hike 
How well can you see in the dark? What are the strange sounds you hear? What creatures are active at night? Learn how the darkness changes the way we experience nature. Bring flashlights and insect repellent. Meet at the Shady Lane Parking Area 8:30pm.

Manor House Tours
Peek inside the former H.B. Stewart family home. Self guided tours (pick up an info sheet at the visitor’s center) every Saturday and Sunday through October. Special guided tours once a month.

Traditional Music
Every 1st and 3rd Thursday from 6-9pm June through November. Celtic, bluegrass, and traditional music will be played at each session. Bring an instrument and join in. Listeners are always welcome! Meet at the Manor House.

Quail Hollow State Park is located at 13480 Congress Lake Ave. in Hartville, Ohio. Be sure to check out the Quails Nest Gift Shop for nature related gift items, park shirts, bird houses and snacks. Open Sundays from 1-4pm and on Saturdays 1-4pm (June-October).
