History of Aultman, Ohio Exhibit

May 28, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Aultman, Ohio began its development when the Stripe Brothers founded the Valley Sewer Pipe and Fire Brick Works in 1870. The opening of the Valley Railroad between Akron and Canton in 1878 provided shipping for the heavy clay products for the Stripe Brothers and for Herbert B. Camp’s operation. Herbert B. Camp founded the Tile and Conduit Works in 1881. His company made conduits for underground telephone lines. Mr. Camp sold the operation to National Fireproof Company (NATCO) in 1902. NATCO abandoned Aultman in 1962.

The Lake Township Historical Society has a display about “AULTMAN, OHIO” at the Museum. There are items from business that started in Aultman as well as historical photos.

Museum will be open May 28th, June 11th, and June 25th.
